The list of modules we offer is not exhaustive as training can be adapted to your individual needs.

Please click on the links to get a general description of the module, or contact us to request a price list.

We can offer training both on your premises or at our own training centre, depending on the number of participants.

1. Project Mentoring
A needs analysis of your project to identify your needs and then a training programme identified to meet these needs.
A contact person will also be allocated to offer support to your members via telephone or in person

2. Child Protection Act Scotland (2003)
Be aware of the legislation and your responsibility by law.
Don't think it can be ignored, be prepared and keep your group legal

3. Disclosure Scotland Checks
What are Disclosure Checks and how do you arrange them?
How much do you pay and who needs them?
Is it necessary to be registered to access Disclosure Checks?
All these questions answered and more.

4. Child Protection Policies / Vulnerable Adults
What is a Child Protection Policy and why do we need one?
Should we also have a policy for working with vulnerable adults
The simple answer is yes and with a little help you could have them sooner than you think.
We can help with all these questions.
GYIP Training Services can prepare your policy for you or work with you to compile them so you can understand why you need them.

5. Committee Procedures
Do you despair at time wasted in meetings due to people not seemign to understand how a committee works?
Improve your efficiency and productivity by having GYIP Training Services organise Committeee Procedures Training for you.

6. Compiling a Constituition
Does your group need a constituition to enable it to apply for grant aid?
Help is available from GYIP Training Services; we can assist you in compiling a constituition to meet your needs and advise on how to achieve charitable status.

7. Recording Statistics
Don't be put off by how to record statistics, we can help by analysis of your needs and haelping to put processes in place.

8. Quality Indicators
The term "Quality Indicators" is more frightening than it should be.
Like everything in life, when someone explains it in a fashion that you understand and supplies you withexamples, the fear goes away.
Don't get caught out when evaluations come around, be prepared.

9. Training for Volunteers
Need to update your processes for the recruitment and training of volunteers?
We can help you to develop a process that suits your organisation and meets your needs and those of your volunteers.
It also helps to know your acts are not contravening legislation.

10. Staff Development Programmes
To ensure effectiveness you need a happy, well-trained compliment of staff to meet your organisations ever changing needs.
Why not implement a staff development programme that meets all your needs and identifies staff training needs and the costs to the organisation. The procedures for arranging and recording support & supervision meetings with staff and how to structure appraisals meetings are included.

11. Youth Work Training - Modular
This consists of eleven modules relating Youth Work, available as a complete package or individual modules.
This includes: Introduction to Youth Work, Groupwork, Communication Skills, Anti-racist Awareness, Street Work, Drug ID & Awareness, Helping Skills, Child Protection, Group Games for Children, Organising Outdoor Education trips for Young People, Programme Planning.

12. Alcohol Awareness
Contains elements including:
Who wants to be Alcohol Aware?
Interactive Game Format & Display
Under-age Risky Drinking/Binge Drinking
Alcohol Awareness display boards and leaflets are provided for information purposes only.

13. Smoking Awareness -Consequences
An interactive workshop with displays:
Learn what smoking actually does to your lungs, the dangers of second-hand smoking, and how to stop smoking.

14. Anti-Racist Awareness
An interactive workshop from the Youth Modules section that looks at what it is to be British, and what the ethnic origins of the British.
Also includes "Show Racism The Red Card" video along with a variety of groupwork exercises.

15. Senior Member Involvement Training - Young People
Training for the older youth members to enable them to become more active in the organisation and contribute to decision making.
Includes modules: Teamwork, Programme Planning and How Committees Operate.

16. Choices - Training Video/Pack
A Video Training Pack with a variety of uses, predominantly about gangs and territorialism.
Many sections of the training pack can be used without the video and are invaluable in their own right.
Includes modules: Stereotyping, Goal Setting, Relationships with Parents, and Peer Group Pressure.

17. At That Age - Training Video/Pack
A Video Training Pack about Teenage Pregnancy and how to avoid it.
The video was made and produced by young people from the Greater Pollock area of Glasgow.

18. Organising Outdoor Education Trips for Youth Groups
An Information Pack about how to organise and negotiate Outdoor Education Trips with youth groups.
The pack can be supplied on its own or with training from GYIP Training Services Staff.

19. Transition to Employment - School Leavers
A series of five modules covering everything a young person needs to know about searching and securing employment.
Includes: Researching Vacancies, Applying for Vacancies (includes Telephone Skills, Application Forms, Curriculum Vitae), Understanding Employers Needs, Preparation for Interview and Practice Interviews.

20. Enhance Employability Skill - Adults
Similar to the Transition to Employment module, but aimed at adults.
Provides the same type of advice and training but tailored to accomodate adults without being patronising.

21. Organising Games for Children
Training on how to keep children happy and organised using games, this module covers Health & Safety and Risk Assessment.
The booklet supplied with module lists full instructions in over 50 games.

22. Drug ID and Awareness
A presentation with CD-ROM supplied for future use of the group.
Interactive Workshops with displays that stimulate discussion and bring the young person into contact with the real facts and reality of drug usage, including consequences and a section on Club Drugs.

23. Youth Work Training Course
This youth work course lasts for twenty-two sessions and is recognised by most councils in Scotland as a youth work qualification.
This course was developed by Falkirk Council from the old youth work course offered by many councils in Scotland.
GYIP Training Services is one of the few Voluntary Organisations able to offer this training opportunity in Scotland.
